His Legacy Lives On . . .
Imagine a no holiday dinner to share with family and friends. That would have been the sad experience for 50 families in Coraopolis area last Christmas had it not been for the efforts of the Volante family. They made the legacy of their father, Mr. Anthony J. Volante, live on after his physical presence passed from this world.
Anthony Volante, known as “Tony”, was a loved and respected businessman in Coraopolis. Owner of “Volante’s Produce” (now “Anthony’s Original’s”), Tony worked tirelessly to build a wholesale produce store which was innovative and thriving. But as a Christian, Tony didn’t believe in seeking only his own interests. This smiling man with an infectious laugh could not bear to see anyone without the necessities of life. Whenever he discovered a person in need, he responded
promptly with money or food, and frequently delivered items to the homebound.
It was this spirit of concern that inspired a good friend of the family to help them establish the "Anthony Volante Feed the Hungry Fund." In 2010, this effort provided ham dinners to the needy of our town for Christmas. Because of the huge success, the program has continued to supply the impoverished with a
meal on Easter and Christmas. As the Scriptures say of the just man, "He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor; his righteousness endures
forever" (2 Cor 9:9). And so, the legacy of Anthony J. Volante lives on.
